FROM THE HOME COMMITTEE
The
Home Committee has been busy this month, planning the events that you enjoy at The
Home. September had many fun events with
our quarterly golf tournament and Hawaiian Luau in which we thank all our
volunteers and coordinators for putting on a great time for all!
October is going to be just as
fun with Karaoke every Friday and Saturday, pool tournaments on the weekends
and a special Halloween Party on 27 October.
Come out and help with the
monthly field day on 13 October at 0900 and after we are finished, stay for the
Home Committee Meeting at 1200. We
encourage all members to attend and take part in the operation of The Home and
give us new ideas to improve.
Beginning 5 October, a table will
be set up in the foyer of The Home to check membership cards. We are in need of volunteers to check cards
for an hour or two. If you are
interested in volunteering, leave your name in the pass down log with the
evening date you will volunteer. This
will be on Friday and Saturday nights only.
Also, according to South Carolina State Code of Regulations, Bona fide guests shall be limited to
those who accompany a member onto the premises or for whom the member has made
prior arrangements with the management of the organization. This means members
who invite non-member quests must make arrangements with the guest to meet them
at the Home and sign them in.
Looking
forward to seeing you at the Home,
Laurie
Bailey, Home Committee Director and newsletter guest
writer

BRANCH PRESIDENT’S CORNER
What’s the Fleet Reserve Association all about? Well, part of what we’re about is providing support to our members, who may be in ill health. Remembering our departed Shipmates. Supporting veteran activities and promoting patriotism within our community. Supporting the youth of our community and publicizing our good deeds! Branch 269 does an excellent job in all of these endeavours! As a matter of fact, Branch 269 placed first in Group I, FRA Southeast Region in: Americanism & Patriotism; Hospital, Welfare & Rehabilitation; Youth Activities; and Public Relations! Congratulations, Shipmates! Your number ONE! It was a clean sweep! We’ll also receive the top recruiting award for Group I at the National Convention. Branch 269 achieved the 100% Membership & Retention Award!
We’ve achieved all of this with less than half of our members being actively involved. You want to make a difference in your community? Get involved with Branch 269 of the FRA! We’re making a difference, every day.
Oh by the way! Recruit! Recruit! Recruit! We’re over one thousand in membership, now. Let’s hit twelve hundred by the end of the year! Retired, active duty, reserve or veterans! JUST ASK THEM!
Hope
to see you at this month’s meeting, Thursday the 18th of October!

Members, please remember a lot
of you probably do out side work, like helping in your community, doing the
voting polls, visiting hospitals, contributing to cancer funds, Red Cross etc.
Please, this is work that you can bring to the Unit. We prepare reports each year, showing the
accomplishments that Unit 269 has done. So please let me, or one of the
committee members know this.
My heartfelt sympathies, to
those who lost of loved one. To those
who are sick or recovering from an illness, I wish you a speedy recovery. If you are celebrating a Birthday or
Anniversary in the month of October, I wish you many happy returns.
I
remain yours in L/P/S,
